Puttur: Mai De Deus Educational Institutions organize Founder's Day sports meet

Puttur, Oct 31: Founder's Day Sports Meet of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions was held at St Philomena College ground on October 28 and 29. The sports meet was celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The ceremonial march-past was exhibited by the students of all the Educational Institutions of Mai De Deus Church. The meet was inaugurated by the dignitaries by releasing the balloons. The sports flame was lighted up by the sports achievers in National level.

Oath taking ceremony was conducted by Beaula PT, III BCom. The president, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent, Mai De Deus Educational Institutions in his introductory speech thanked Msgr Antony Patrao and welcomed all the dignitaries and the guests. He emphasized the importance of sports.

Fr Valerian D'Souza, former correspondent, Mai De Deus Educational Institutions said, "Sports will build discipline among students. It teaches the skill of handling difficult situations, quick decision making and problem solving capacity. One will know the art of living, managing the things and take lead.

Fr Stany Pinto, campus director, St Philomena Campus, Dr Antony Prakash Montheiro, principal, St Philomena College, Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, principal, St Philomena PU College, heads of various institutions were present on the occasion.

Elias Pinto, Rajesh Moolya, Naresh Peter Lobo, Ivy Pais, Felsy D'Souza, Poornima, Sadashiva, Padmanabha, Jayaraj Jain physical directors of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions co ordinated the sports meet.

Maurice Mascarenhas, vice president, Parish Pastoral Parishad, Mai De Deus Church proposed vote of Thanks. Bharathi S Rai, dept of English compered the sports meet.
