Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School organizes 'Science Week'

Mangaluru, Nov 4: The department of Science had organised 'Science week' at LCS from October 17 to 21 for the students of class 1 to 10 under the title 'LCS PRO SCIENCE 2022'.

The science week was inaugurated on October 17 during the morning assembly. The programme began with the prayer. Principal of the school Fr Robert D'Souza and vice principal Anitha Thomas symbolically inaugurated the science week by operating the robot 'Tio' which was designed and built by four students of class9. Significance of science week was given to the students. To make the programme more cheerful and interesting, students of class7 presented a song based on science and students of class 10 performed a dance describing the safety measures to be taken in labs while performing experiments. Principal addressed the students and encouraged them to take active part in all the activities of science week. Students of class 1 to 12 witnessed the programme. Shahan Bryan Lobo and Shazia Noushad of class 10 compered the programme.

Students were given an opportunity to decorate the bulletin boards and display the science facts through art integration
During morning assemblies, informative and enthusiastic activities were conducted by the students throughout the week. It involved information on recent developments in the field of science, importance of some discoveries/inventions and singing songs that explained various scientific phenomena.
Science model making competition was held on 21st October for the students of class 1 to 10. Each student had to make a science model based on the topics given to them. All students actively participated in the science exhibition and explained their models to the respective teachers. Winners of the competition were rewarded with certificates.

Finale of the fun filled science week was held on October 21 by the students of class 9. The programme involved melodious songs describing the various branches of science, a science drama with a message and report of the science week. Four students of class 9, Sanath Sanjay Shet, Simeon A Rodrigues, Aahan D Hegde and Nandan Bhandary received the certificate of appreciation from the principal and vice principal for their efforts in making the robot 'Tio'. Information about the recent developments in ISRO was given to the students. The principal Fr Robert D'Souza appreciated and congratulated all the students and teachers for their efforts in making the science week a big success.Amritha Nair of class 9 was the MC for the programme.

All the activities were well planned and executed by the wholehearted support of all the teachers of science department under the guidance of the coordinator Linet D’souza.
