Beltangady: NCC combined annual training camp, selection for Republic Day parade held

Beltangady, Nov 5: An eight-day combined annual training camp for NCC cadets, boys and girls and selection of Mangalore group level NCC cadets for 2023 Republic Day march past parade in New Delhi was held under the aegis of Sacred Heart College, from October 24 to 31.

In the opening ceremony, Col Nithin R Bhide, camp commandant delivered the opening address. Dr Joseph NM, the principal of Sacred Heart College Madanthyar, heartily welcomed all the cadets to the college campus and wished them a pleasant stay. Col Amithab Singh, deputy commandant, Capt Shakin Raj, aamp adjudant, Subedar Major were present during the programme.

The various subjects such as drill, weapon training, map reading, first aid, military history, physical fitness etc were imparted to the cadets during the camp. Various competitions like debate, quiz, volleyball, throw ball were conducted to the cadets. During the training, live demonstration was given regarding the fire extinguishing skills to the cadets. A special training session was taken by the Rural Development and Self Employment Training institute (RUDSETI). Traffic awareness programme was organized to the cadets. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of 'Iron Man' of India, Sardar Patel, 'Run For Unity' was conducted in the camp site. Lt Alwyn KG held the position of company quarter master, Lt Rajesh Shettigar, Lt Gayathri B K, third officer Sanjith Shetty and Lt Johnson were the allotted ANO's of the camp.

The closing ceremony was held under the presidentship of Col Nithin Bhide, the commanding officer and Fr Basil Vas, the correspondent of Sacred Heart educational institutions was the chief guest of the programme. Prize distribution was held during the programme. The camp was concluded by the closing adress of commanding officer.

NCC song and the national anthem were sung at the end of the programme.
