Bengaluru, Nov 5: Continuing his tirade against Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar, the JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has demanded the minister’s resignation owning moral responsibility for the deaths of 3 innocent persons, comprising a pregnant woman and her two new-born twins, in the Tumkur government hospital because of denial of medical treatment for not bringing the Aadhaar card.

``Dr Sudhakar is the most irresponsible and arrogant minister,’’ the former Chief Minister said and demanded that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai must sack the minister from his cabinet if the minister does not quit on his own.

The JD(S) has lashed out at Dr Sudhakar for glorifying the deaths of three innocent persons and alleged that he is solely responsible for converting the government hospitals in ``death cesspools’’ and said the least the minister could have done express his regrets.

Kumaraswamy alleged that the women who had brought the pregnant woman to the Tumkur hospital for delivery is now being threatened by the police and wondered if it was at the instance of the minister. ``Please remember that at most this government will be there for six months. People will teach you a lesson in the elections and bring you down,’’ he warned.

If the situation in a district hospital was in such a pathetic condition with the doctors and staff displaying inhuman and callous attitudes, the former Chief Minister wondered what will b.e the fate of the taluk hospitals and primary health centres

Kumaraswamy attacked Dr Sudhakar for bringing extraneous issues to defend his department to divert attention by raising the issue of poisoned Prasad being distributed at the Sulawadi temple in Chamarajanagar when his government was in power.

``I was on an official tour in Chennai. As soon as I returned, I rushed to the place,’’ Kumaraswamy said and wanted to know how the deaths of three innocent persons, including two new born twins and a pregnant mother, can be justified.

``What happened in Chamarajanagar was person enmity. But the incident in Tumkur government hospital is utter callousness,’’ Kumaraswamy said and asked the minister to explain who was responsible for 36 deaths due to non-availability of oxygen in the same Chamarajangar hospital and also the deaths of hundreds of people due to Covid pandemic throughout the State when Dr Sudhakar was the health minister.

``Percentage Scam’’

The JD(S) leader claimed that he has all the sordid details of loot when people suffered due to Covid and alleged that the minister had set rates for the recruitment of doctors and assistant professors. ``A cat may drink milk by closing its eyes believing nobody will see. But please remember there are people who know all the details,’’ he said.

Kumaraswamy also alleged that contractor Kempanna was supposed to attend a programme in Chikkaballappur to expose Dr Sudhakar on his ‘’percentage deals’’ and was prevailed upon through several others.

``I know the people to whom you approached and prayed to prevent Kempanna from exposing the percentage scam. Be warned, it is not safe to throw stones at others by staying inside glass house,’’ he said.
