Bengaluru, Nov 5: Claiming that the Pavagada Solar Park had won Union Government’s award and had hailed the Karnataka Model of helping farmers, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar on Saturday offered to face any kind of probe by the Basavaraj Bommai regime.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday, the State Congress president said his tenure as State’s Power Minister had won Union Government’s award and mentioned that other States were advised to follow the Karnataka model.
``I welcome any probe if instituted by the BJP government. Nobody can change history. Whatever schemes implemented during my tenure as minister were done in a transparent manner,’’ he said claiming that the Pavagada Solar Park project had helped farmers to generate 20 mw power.
Piyush Goel, PM presented Award
Shivakumar said that he is not sure if the State’s Power Minister Sunil Kumar is aware of the details of Pavagada Solar Park project. ``Let him go through the records and enlighten himself,’’ the KPCC Chief said and pointed out that the Union Energy Minister Piyush Goel and the Prime Minister had conferred the awards and the BJP government in Delhi had advised other States to adopt the Karnataka model.
The KPCC Chief said the tenders were invited for the Pavagada Solar Park project six months in advance through newspaper advertisements and this was done by the officials. The present department secretary and the KRC Chief were part of the project. The government is free to ask them and conduct any probe.
``Even if it is proved that I have committed the smallest mistake, I am ready to face any punishment,’’ he declared and said he has all the details of the power production during his tenure and the present generation.
Shivakumar said he has all the details of various scams under the BJP rule in the State starting from the Bit Coin scandal and how all the scams have been hushed up. ``I will come out with details at the appropriate time. The records cannot be erased,’’ he said.
Answering questions on the ED summons to him and his brother DK Suresh, the KPCC Chief said: ``We have furnished all the details. Now, the investigating officer in the National Herald case has been changed and we have issued a notice to appear on November 6. We have to provide some more documents and will comply with it in the next few days.’’
When CBI has registered a case in the Disproportionate Assets case, ED has also registered a case, he said pointing out that ED cannot register a case when CBI has already registered a case. ``We have challenged this in the High Court, let us see what the court decides. We respect the courts and honour the legal process,’’ he said.
Why no action in Chamarajanagar Incident?
On the death of a pregnant woman and her two new born twins due to denial of treatment for non-production of Aadhaar card in the Tumkur government hospital, the KPCC Chief said it is a most inhuman and irresponsible behaviour on the part of the doctors.
``Now the doctors and staff in the hospital have been suspended. Why no similar action was not taken when 37 persons lost their lives in the Chamarajanagar government hospital due to non-availability of oxygen cylinders during the Covid pandemic. The bereaved families of the deceased were not even given any compensation. I went and presented cheques of Rs 1 lakh each,’’ he said promising to come out with details after obtaining information from the entire State.
Asked about the copyright infringement case against Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and others for the use of songs in KGF 2 film, Shivakumar said it is quite common to use popular cinema songs in videos and there are umpteen number of such instances. The issue will be legally fought, he added.
