ACME Solar, ABC Cleantech, ReNew Power, Avaada Energy, JSW Green Hydrogen, Petronas Hydrogen and O2 Power have shown interest to invest in Karnataka in order to produce green hydrogen.
Around 1.5 lac crore will be invested in the green hydrogen project. The investors have asked for land near Mangaluru port. Reddy said that Green Hydrogen can be converted to Green Ammonia and exported.
Reddy further said, “Around 100 to 300 acres of land is required for the establishment of green hydrogen units. Most important is the constant supply of solar and wind power. Green power will be transported to Hydrogen plants of Mangaluru through transmission lines of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited or Power Grid Corporation of India.
“Schemes will arrive in phases. This will take a minimum five to six years. PM Modi declared the National Hydrogen Mission with the aim of making India as the production center. He said that before 2047 Hydrogen and fuel will be exported from India.
“Karnataka is ready to play an important role in the global supply chain. Covid disrupted the global supply chain. Present geological and political scenario is conducive to convert Karnataka as the best destination.
“This edition of GIM has the role of Karnataka in the global supply chain system under the subject ‘Build for the world’.
“Karnataka already has excellent environment system for electronics, system design and manufacturing (ESDM). The state is the biggest chip designer facility of India with more than 85 Fables Chip design like Intel, Qualcom, NVIDIA, applied materials, AMD etc. We have given priority to attract investments in semi-conductor and other ESDM production sector,” he said.
When green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy or a process, it can be used in an emergency like hydrogen. The same can be supplied in gas form or through natural gas pipes.
