Udupi: Cops get undertrial custody escapee thief back to jail

Udupi, Nov 6: A man accused of theft who had escaped from police custody while being taken to Udupi Central Jail in Hiriyadka, has been arrested again by the city police.

Mohammed Rahiq (22), is the accused escapee. He was involved in a theft case registered in Kundapur police station limits. On October 19, he escaped from police custody while being taken to Hiriyadka sub jail by assaulting a police personnel.

Two special teams were formed under the leadership of Hakay Akshay Machindra, Udupi SP.

On November 5, the accused was arrested from Mandovi in Mumbai by the Udupi police personnel. He was brought to Kundapur on November 6 and produced before the Kundapur court where he remanded to judicial custody.

After escaping from the police custody, he had stolen a motorcycle and valuables from a lodge in Lonavala of Mumbai where he was staying.

    When we are small we used to play 'Kalla - Police' Now it is real between Police and Mohammed Rahiq. Good going you may be having some kind of god father Mohammed Rahiq. Escape again nothing will happen!

    P.Upendra Shenoy Dubai.You need not feel pity on him .He himself is responsible for his deeds.Would you go to steal because you are not jobs?One should try to even to do small jobs when big jobs are not available immediately.Once used to steal he will do it again becuase easy money.One should have self sureness to come forward.He is still young.Let him learn something in jail

    Hats off to police personnel. These type of notorious criminals must be chained and to be handcuffed while transporting them to jail or court. Now give him strict Punishment in Jail and let him remain behind bars all his life.
