Bantwal, Nov 7: Roof of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat higher primary school at Kulalu of Kolnad village in Vittal in the taluk collapsed on Friday due to heavy rains causing severe damage.

Just five days ago, decision was taken by teachers, school development committee and Kolnad gram panchayat vice president to shift the students of the school to other building sensing danger considering the dilapidated condition of the school building.

This school is 92-years-old and has six class rooms. There are 93 students studying in grade 1 to 8. Six teachers are needed. While four are discharging at present, two posts are vacant. Guest teachers are recruited by Sri Varahi Yuvaka Mandala and parents of children studying in school. Students of the schools are ferried to and back from school in the school bus provided by Dubai entrepreneur Rajshekhar Chowta and others.

Parents of children complain that the education department is least bothered about the school, though parents and donors have helped a lot.

Even rain played a crucial role in the recent world cup. Many matches were cancelled and poor Australia were out of the tournament.Even India hold their nerves during the Bangladesh match when Bangladesh were ahead in DL method. But luckily rain stopped in the middle and India went on to win the match.Cannot underestimate the power of rain.

If there was no private schools in India canot imagine how our education will be by this government schools. Our government not focusing on these schools. Then they say no students . So that they will close schools. How can less teachers will give good education to students?. and sure guest teachers will not up to the mark also due to their payments.
