Udupi, Nov 8: Former chief minister (CM) and CM Basavaraj Bommai condemned Sathish Jarkiholi’s statement on the word Hindu.
Addressing media, Yediyurappa said, ““Hurting the sentiments of Hindus is condemnable. Even Congress leaders have condemned Satish Jarkiholi’s statement. Satish Jarkiholi should tender an apology to the people of Karnataka. If he thinks that he becomes great by speaking cheaply, then it is just an illusion.”
Responding to the query on Siddaramaiah’s statement that they will give gift to Kharge by winning the next assembly elections, Yediyurappa said, “Siddaramaiah is under an illusion. It seems that he thinks that the people of Karnataka are with him. It is impossible for Congress to win in Karnataka.
“The BJP will get clear mandate in Karnataka with the support of PM Modi. Siddaramaiah is going to be defeated for sure in Badami. Siddaramaiah won the Badami seat by few votes last time. Then he has forgotten that constituency. People will teach him lesson. Many from other political parties have joined BJP. Many more will come,” he said.
Replying to the query on Muruga Sharana sexual harassment case, Yediyurappa said, “The seer has done unpardonable crime. No one believed that he will stoop to such low level. All have to condemn this act of Muruga Sharana. He should be punished severely.”
He further said, “CM Bommai and I have toured coastal region. We have received grand welcome. All BJP candidates will win in coastal region. BJP will win more than 140 seats in Karnataka. No one can stop BJP from regaining power again.”
Speaking on derogatory statement of Satish Jarkiholi on the word Hindu, CM Bommai said, “Satish Jarkiholi is a half educated man. He has spoken without any deep knowledge. He is under the illusion that he will get the vote of minorities. Religious sentiments in India are hurt due to his statement.
“Why Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi are silent on the statement given by Satish Jarkiholi? Does it mean that they are supporting his statement? Congress remains in tits and bits in the whole country. People of Karnataka will give them corner seat this time. People of Karnataka should condemn the statement of Satish Jarkiholi,” he said.
Reacting to statement of Congress MP D K Suresh calling CBI as ‘Kirukula Bureau of India’, CM Bommai said, “Why they have to get scared if they have not made any mistake? They say that they are ready to face any inquiry. There is no need to panic if they have not committed any mistake.”
Replying to query on statement of Siddaramaiah that they will give gift to Kharge by winning next assembly elections, Bommai said, “Kharge has also spoken cheaply about Hindus. He is also part of this statement by saying that Hindus are Persians. So let us see who will present gift to whom.”
