Mangaluru, Nov 6: Deputy leader of opposition in the Karnataka assembly, U T Khader on Tuesday November 8 termed BJP's Jan Sankalp Yatra as 'Jan Sankasta Yatra'.

Addressing media he said, “During the elections, BJP had promised several schemes for the people of the state, but failed to fulfill the assured promises. To divert the attention of the people from major crises like corruption in the state, the BJP is organising such yatras.”

He also added that people in the state had not voted BJP to power in majority, but it had come to power through ‘Operation Lotus’. “The BJP which claimed to be a double engine government, is now left with only silencers,” he said.

Khader claimed that the main roads in his constituency are filled with potholes. He said, “The BJP government has sanctioned only Rs 5 lac to fill the potholes. What has the BJP government done for Dakshina Kannada.? Though Sagarmala Project is announced, the work has not been started yet.

“The BJP has betrayed the fishermen of the district. They have used the innocence of fishermen for political gains. Though the government had announced several programmes, none of them have materialised.

“The government has announced free health card for one lac labourers. Even that has not become a reality,” he said.

Khader also mentioned that minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, the MP and MLAs are simply submitting memorandum to start the distribution of boiled rice through the Public Distribution System (PDS). He alleged that people are not getting ration cards on time in the present government’s tenure.

“Measures have not been taken to prevent sea erosion. Fishermen are losing their houses,” he added.

On a query over Satish Jarkiholi's comment, Khader said that it was Jarkiholi's personal opinion.

Speaking over the opening of beef stalls in the new central market, Khader said, “The BJP has no real concern. Their intention is just politics. Why has the government allowed 11 factories in the state to export beef? Why are they not banning them? BJP's stand on the issue keeps changing in different states. Let them take legal action if they can.”

MLC Harish Kumar, Congress leaders Nirajpal, Prakash Salian and others were present.
