Mangaluru, Nov 8: The inaugural ceremony of Alumni Association 2022-23 was held in Dr NSAM Pre-University College on November 6.
The chief guest for the occasion was Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief and managing director of Daijiworld Media. Addressing the gathering, he said, "The root cause of what we are today is the education institution that nurtured us. Our alma mater is the place which launches us into a whole new world of self-discovery. No matter how far one goes, for a job or an achievement, we should never forget the organization where we pursued our studies. The blessings of our Guru is protection for one’s life. Nitte institution is a beacon for millions of students and they are fortunate to be educated under such a prestigious institution." He further emphasized that let there be activities that complement the progress of the institution through the Alumni Association.
Guest of honour Roopa Varkady, cine artist, Tulu and Kannada film industry, addressed the gathering said that people recognize her because she is an artiste and further said that if there is honesty it is possible to make a living in this field too and one should be loyal to their alma mater.
Principal Dr Naveen Shetty K in his presidential address said that the role of alumni is very important in the progress of any organization. "One should not forget the institution which has played a vital role in shaping one’s future and conducting such programmes help in building a strong bond," she said.
Veena, alumni coordinator, Dr NSAM PU College, Mangaluru briefed the audience about the vision and plans of the Alumni Association.
Vijesh Naik, president (1998-2000 batch), Vinod Kumar (2013-15 batch), secretary and elected committee members of the Alumni Association 2022-23 were delegated responsibility by the chief guest and other dignitaries on the occasion. Prasanna Kailaje, director (Student Welfare & Alumni Relations), Nitte Deemed to be University informed the alumni about the Nitte Alumni Portal to connect the other alumni from the constituent college of the Nitte University.
Anvith Shetty, actor, model, Mr Karnataka, Mr Dakshina Kannada award winner and who excelled in national level volleyball and throwball tournament, Pranesh, an artiste who made his name in the world of music by composing songs, Veekshitha who won first place in karate and relay at national level competition, Drisheeth and Karthik who have been recognized and awarded at national level under the category of short films and drama, Deviprasad who won the silver medal at national level volleyball tournament, Jnanesh for developing the 'Genesiri' app which translates Kannada and Malayalam languages to Tulu language and Kiran Kumar, former president of Alumni Association were all recognized and honoured as the special achievers of Dr NSAM PU College.
The gathering was welcomed by Vijesh Naik, Shamitha rendered a prayer, Kiran introduced the guests, Vinod Kumar delivered the vote of thanks and Rajath Shetty coordinated the programme.
All the staff members and 200 alumni were present including the first batch (1998) of the college.
