Mangaluru, Nov 9:   St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangaluru awarded Kreeda Spoorthi (sports scholarship 2022-23) and Vidwath Spoorthi (merit scholarship 2022-23) to its students for their achievements here on Wednesday, November 9 at Robert Sequeira Hall, SAC Mangaluru.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Melwin J Pinto S J said, " We feel the real joy when you students make the best use of the opportunity provided in the institution. God has blessed everyone with talents. But, what we do with the given talent is more important. You have made full use of your talent. You may have received inspiration from your parents and teachers."

He also added that perspiration put by students has made them excel in their respective fields. “Unless you practice you cannot achieve in sports and similarly unless you study well, you cannot reach the level where you receive merit prize and awards,” he added.

He also said that students have to go many more miles in their future to achieve success in their lives.

He lauded former international bodybuilder Raymond D'Souza for excelling internationally in bodybuilding through hard work and perspiration. "It is a tremendous achievement and he is a great role model for hard work," he said.

In his address, Raymond D'Souza said, "I was working out in the hostel of the institution. My sports life started after I joined St Aloysius institution. Many physical directors in the college helped me in training for physical activities. I attended several programmes, but this day is really special to me."

He also said that he had struggled a lot to get an international award in bodybuilding. "Keep practicing in the sports. When you excel in sports you will get good employment opportunities," he added.

St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) Sunil Kunder said, " In this world, no one will get free lunch. Everyone needs to slog. Do not stop here. You students should reach your ultimate goal. Achievers should continuously work towards their goals without taking a nap. Always try to enlarge your talent.”

He also lauded the Jesuit institutions for the discipline and standards taught.

Principal Fr Dr Praveen Martis S J called upon the students to attempt UPSC examinations.  He also added that the college is imparting coaching for UPSC exam aspiring students.

Registrar Dr Alwyn D'Sa welcomed.

Later, scholarships were distributed to the achievers.
