Mangaluru: Attempt to destroy CCTV camera by sand mafia again – Complaint filed

Mangaluru, Nov 10: An attempt for the second time was made to destroy the CCTV camera that is installed near MUDA layout Someshwara to prevent illegal sand excavation from the beach. The village accountant has filed a complaint in Ullal police station in this regard.

A month ago, police had arrested four people in connection with damaging the CCTV camera that was installed at Someshwar beach. On November 6, around 2.25 am, a person who got down from Wagon R vehicle tried to damage the CCTV camera.

The deputy commissioner and the president of the sand committee have given a contract to sign in security of Kundapur to maintain CCTV recording 24x7 for one year in order to prevent sand mining in the CRZ area. However, the sand mafia seems not to bog down and continue their destructive activities.

A case filed in Ullal police station as per the complaint filed by village accountant Santhosh.

    Sand mining continues without check from. Someshwar There is a path to the beach that bypasses the camera. Anyone can see the pits from where the sand has been removed. Officials are not interested in stopping the illegal mining.

    hide and seek game between govt officials and sand mafia....e haki lekka malpu...yaan bulthi lekka malpuve..no one has committment just money..40 and in some cases 60 percent.
