Kasargod, Nov 11: Police arrested five people in connection with the mysterious death of renowned dentist of Badiadka Dr S Krishnamurthy. It is said that the accused threatened the doctor. The arrested accused are identified as Ali Tuppakal, Mohammed Hanif, Ashraf, Mohammed and Ummarul Farooq.
The arrested accused had threatened the doctor in his clinic on Tuesday. They accused the doctor of misbehaving with a woman who visited the clinic. Subsequently, Dr Krishnamurthy went missing. His bike was found in Kumbale town. Mobile was left at clinic. Badiadka police had filed case as per the complaint given by Dr Krishnamurthy’s wife. Dr Krishamurthy’s mortal remains were found on railway tracks near Kundapur.
Meanwhile, Badiadka town observed bandh as per the call given by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). All the shops were closed. Protest was held under the leadership of VHP. Huge procession was held in Badiadka town by the VHP. The procession which began from the vicinity of Dr Krishnamurthy’s house ended at Bus stand.
VHP Prakhanda secretary Manjunatha Manya welcomed the gathering. Leader of Sangh Parivar Sharan Pumpwell, lawyer K Srikant, P Ramesh Kasargod, Sudhama Gosada, Harish Narampadi and Harish Putrakala addressed the protesters.
Dr Krishnamurthy’s mortal remains were brought to his home on Friday morning and was cremated in the backyard of the house.
