Mangaluru: Musical tribute paid to Lata Mangeshkar, SPB at Sargam Sangeethotsava

Mangaluru, Nov 11: The Season 5 of Sargam Sangeethotsava as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and Padma Vibushan Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam was held at Town Hall on November 11. The programme was presented by NIKS masala.

Sangeethotsava was inaugurated by dignitaries, managing director of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike, Prashanth Shetty from Supra lights, singer Ajay Warrier, Damodhar Bhagavath and managing director of Bhandary Builders Lakshmish Bhandary.

Speaking on the occasion, Walter Nandalike said, “For the last five seasons, Lakshmish Bhandary is organising Sangeethotsava. During pandemic also, he organised it virtually. Lakshmish Bhandary has shown interest towards singing programmes without looking at its commercial viability."

Lakshmish Bhandary said, “We never expected that Sangeethotsava will reach season 5. It is because of the support of people. It was a success during the last four seasons and singer Ajay Warrier’s team was eagerly waiting to enthrall music lovers in season 5."

Ajay Warrier and Ankita Kundu rendered over 25 songs of singer Late Dr S P Balasubhramanyam and Late Lata Mangeshkar at the grand event that enthralled the crowd in Town Hall.

Tracks like Kannada Naadina Jeevanadhi Kaveri, Karunada Thaayi Sada Chinmayi, Beladingalu Hennagi Bandhante, Hindi track Sun Beliya, Mast Gagan Mein were sung during Sangeethotsava.

Roopa Gururaj compered the programme.

Deepak was on the keyboard while Rajgopal was on the lead guitar and Tony D'Silva strummed the bass guitar. Vaman Kumar played the drums and Jayan Eyakad was the flutist. Rajesh Bhagavath was the percussionist and Sumukh Rajgopal played the sitar.

The event was powered by NIKS Masala and Bhandary Builders. Daijiworld 24x7 was the media partner.

The event was supported by Supra Lights Fancy Light Studio. Sound and lights were provided by Surabhi Pro Sounds and the radio partner was Red FM 93.5.

    What a musical treat this program was ! Kudos to all organisers especially Daiji for covering it too ! What a singing sensation the little Ankita Kundu is ! To be heard to be believed... Even Lataji would have nodded her approval for some or all of her songs rendered ! Naam Goom Jaayega and Dil Hoom Hoom Kare were v v v special ! Kya kehene ! Don't miss this Kid's concert if she is singing near your place ! God bless the Music fraternity 🙏
