Kundapur: Two arrested over illegal transportation of cattle

Kundapur, Nov 12: An incident of illegal cattle trafficking was detected by the personnel of Gangolli police, who were conducting regular vehicle checks on NH 66 near Arate bus stand on Friday November 11.

Sub inspector Vinay Korlahalli and his team found illegal cow transportation in a pick-up vehicle. They confiscated the vehicle and arrested the accused.

The arrested accused are identified as Usman and Joseph D’Souza. One more accused Shekhar Shetty escaped from the spot.

Police said that the trio were transporting two cows in an inhumane manner from Mowadi to Kundapur. A case is registered at Gangolli police station.

    First they come to buy milk,; after they and their families become strong from consuming our milk they ask rate of our cow & come to buy it, then they steal it & eat it; the very cow that made them strong. Solution: dont sell cattle thieves milk & make them strong!

Could you please tell me why it is forced as maatha on other faiths when you yourselves dont believe it as a maatha?. People even believe that eating Non Veg is a sin as well. So do you want to have a law to ban all non veg foods like chicken, mutton etc...?

    @Rohan, You sound as if the thieves apply for a special permission from the relatives/ friends/ community leaders before stealing the cows; and they proceed with the action after final approvals from these people above. Come on, Dont be childish. These thieves, wont stop stealing even after spending jail terms.

Its is illegal transport Fine.' Now 3 guys in Usman & joseph are caught but Shetty escapes ..Doesn't it look fishy . I feel main culprit & these planned was by Shetty & his friends .' Why do we have problems only in Udupi & DK for cows . BD & VHP guys are big beef eaters with cheap alcohol. I have a coligue who was pure BD guy from Vittla he is here in in my company in Abu dhabi... he loves beef . He says here you eat beef no problem nobody knows ..Lol. he didn't know him and i asked him you are a pure BD supporter .Now he says don't tell anyone back home i eat beef .

    Focus of police force is being diverted from grave issues to non issue like this... Laughable item to read on a daily basis... It is a matter of food and not an offence as wrongly dictated by the bajapa... bajapa is famous for playing convenience politics... Right from selection of presidential candidate things trickle down... This cattle business is aimed at keeping majority folks together in the name of gomata... This attempt will not serve for long as sizable majority population also consumes beef...

    I don't believe Cow is any Matha. But it does have a special place in people's life even here in DK and Udupi district not only for Hindus but other as well! Now, coming to the point, Where's it written in the 'Holy scriptures' that you should steal and slaughter innocent people's cows? Is there any awareness given to the community that you shouldn't steal people's petthas?

    @ Rohan R Karkera, Mangalore. I totally agree with you. If I were to know that the cow meat is from a stolen cow, I will not eat nor would I feed my children. Not just cow, stealing anything is wrong and I am with you on this subject. In such a scenario governments should ensure cow meat is available and is done legally. Ensure there are more abattoirs. Just 2 days back the restrictions on movement of cattle in Goa was removed as most of the cattle comes across the border from Maharashtra. Reason: It will take a hit on tourism in Goa. Now both states are ruled by BJP. Why rules change in different states in the double engine government?

    That's my point! I didn't ask you to quote the scripture, as it's obvious not ANY scripture would ask to steal, nothing special in that. My point however is, Why is there ZERO action taken by the community on these atrocities committed by them?

    report says illigal trafficking, they didnot mention it is stollen. Illigal trafficking means they required documents from local authority to transfer from one place to another. Sincere question" why police never ride beef exporting companies?
