Mangalore: Change of Guard in Twin Districts: Both DCs Transferred in Sudden Move

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, May 14: In a surprise move, Subodh Yadav who was appointed deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district just seven months ago, has been transferred to state textile department, Bangalore.

Present Chikmaglur DC Channappa Gowda has been appointed new DC of Dakshina Kannada district in Yadav's place.

Subodh Yadav and Chennappa Gowda

Hemalatha and Dr Raju

Subodh Yadav had been an upright, unbending officer, and reportedly, he was not willing to bow down to the influence of elected representatives of the region. It is gathered that he was primarily responsible for restricting the sand mafia activities around Mangalore. Currently, Subodh Yadvav is spending his holidays back home in Lucknow, and is expected to be back on May 17 to hand over the responsibility to the new DC.

Channappa Gowda is not new to Mangalore as he had served the region as comissionner of the city develpoment board.

Meanwhile, Udupi DC Hemalata too has been transfered to Bangalore as the director of state horticulture department, and she will be replaced by Dr M T Raju.

Hailing from Kerala, Aleppi Dr Raju is an IAS officer of the 2005 batch, currently serving as assistant deputy commissioner in Tarikeri. This is the first time he has been appointed as DC.

It is really a shame on the part of the BJP Government in the State. By transferring two efficient district collectors Yediyoorappa's Government again proved that they dont have any ethics in governance. How long the people tolerate this. The people of DK shold protest strongly against these transfers and allow both the DCs to continue their good work till they complete their acturual tenure. Hope the citizens will wokeup now .

People of Mangalore & Udupi should lodge a strong protest against this unwarranted & untimely transfer of these honest IAS officers. It may be at the behest of the corrupt people of the region who are against the bold decisions and unbending attitude of these officers.

Do we ever think on the impact by transfering these reputed officers again and again within the short span ?? It impacts both development work and well on their families too. Mr. Yadav was following the foot steps of Mr. Ponnuraj and now he too has been axed. Do not know what the new DC would take up ?? Shall he follow the foot steps or will lead on a different way ??

Freedom is very different from mere independence. There is no freedom for the common man in India: not freedom from want, nor freedom of expression or thought, nor freedom to aspire to greatness, nor freedom from corrupt System. There is little to cheer about 63 years after power has been grabbed, most of the leaders are crook willing to sell the national interest down the river. There is no democracy in India it is not the substance of rule of, by and for the people. Instead it is of, by and for the corrupt people, who is only interested in selfish motives. The common people has enabled India to thrive in many sectors in the country and from abroad for instance, in telecommunications, in information technology, in Banking Sector, property, hospitality, health, education etc etc.,The Remittance contribute to GDP. Since 1991 India’s economy is growing very fast.

It is very unfortune that the honest officials are punished for not supporting the corruption that is going on under their nose. The Lokpal law should protect such officials and punish the powerful political cartel that are behind running such illegal activities including the police officials in-charge of that region.

Mr. Allen C.A. Pereira, I appreciate your suggestion of protesting pre-mature transfer. But, to whom to protest when the law makers are law breakers. Karnataka is simply ruled by group of looters from top to bottom. Sorry to say this, but, it is cent percent true.

When honest and efficient officers like DC, Municipal Commissioner, SP, IGP are transferred prematurely we the citizens should express our protest by addressing telegrams/letters to the CM/dist In-charge Minister irrespective of which political party is in power. We the citizens are entitled to know why our elected representatives are against honest officers -

Frankly speaking all this news gives a depressing picture of situation in our country/State, I wonder why only our corrupt politicians should have 5 years as a their term . I feel that all GOVT SERVANTS too should have a fixed term as well but with a clause that incase these govt servants are found to be wanting or corrupt than a provision should be made to have them transfered and not like present that transfers are effected according to the whims & fancies of the powerfull politicians

Dear Rj Avinash and Francis Saldana

Hemealtha may be good, but I have had a very bad experience with her. I am living on a small Island in Udyavara in which there were eight houses and now there are only two houses because there is no vehicle bridge to that island. We were trying for the past 20 years at last we approached Hemalatha with my 75 year old mother, She did not respect my mother nor she seriuosly look in the matter. The bridge is still pending !!! because of this people are abandoning the Island slowly.
and I know that one cannot make every body happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both officer's pro active stance may caused rhe transfer. As far as Mangalore DC concerned he was on move for every corner of DK oveseeing all developmental work and preventing any corruptions in it.He even hard on land grabing mafia in which in Belthangady Taluk acciedently he saw a board of 'FOR LET' in the road side and enquired which finally it was govt land! Therefore now a days 'SEEDA' officers will not get more time in one place as they don't care for corrupt politicians.

What else people can expect from corrupt elements of the society who are responsible for such abrupt and in justifiable transfers of good upright officials.
Such types of transfers was happening earlier also and in the days to come also will happen, let us not mistake about it as long as so called corrupt rulers are exist. These corrupt rulers would never allow the good administrators to function and that is what precisely people are seeing now.

DC Hemalatha is one of the best lady administrative officers udupi district has seen probably after the lady SP officer way back in 90's , Savitha Hande. I wish all the success in her future assignment. Also , when DC Subhod Yadav took over the charge there was a BIG challenge for him as former DC Mr. Ponnuraj had created an oustanding impact by his work style. I personally congratulate DC S Yadav for taking up some lovely initiatives like beach & city cleaning & other lovely works around the city of Mangalore. Its again proved that people who do good in their own ways are not allowed to stay back & continue..Govt. sucks...Good luck Mr. S Yadav.
    Best,
    Avinash..

This is nothing but Withc Hunting. Just becasue some vested interests cannot make money the DC has been trasferred this has been happening from the time of Bharath Lal Meena to Yadav.I salute the such IAS officers who served this city selflessly. But a district run by the present so called elected representatives has no future. Why at least the people are not voicing agianst such corrupt politics. Now at least Mr.Ponnuraj and Mr.Yadav has been trsferred with quick successions we can witness how strong these illegal lobbying is going on in the district.

It is a well known fact that Subodh Yadhav was an upright officer and had indeed served the Dakshina Kanada Dsirict well. He is paying the penalty for for his forthrightness, honesty and integrity. It is a clear case that there is no place for sincere workers. If an IAS officer or an IPS officer wishes to retain his position for a length of time he or she has to tow the line and please the higher ups. There is hardly any place for honest people. I join several people in saying adios to Subodh. At the same time I join a large number of people in extending a warm welcome to Chennappa to The Port City of Mangalore. It appears that Chennappa is coming to Mangalore with a good track record. Hope he will be allowed to work without interference from the politicians.

Mr. Chennappa Gowda, I wish you well and may your tenure be a long and fruitful one.

Well well !!! sudden transfer of...Udupi D.C. Hemalatha is very unfortunate. One of the best Lady officer who has served the district in recent times. I must say that she has not only served the newly formed district with very good administrative results but she being an upright officer with good development programs for the district with a clean record. Hope the new D.C. will continue to do a good job for Udupi District. I wish D.C. Hemalata all the very best for her new posting in Bangalore.
