Bengaluru: ‘Viveka’ colour for all schools in state – Possibility of one more controversy?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 13: According to sources, the state government led by the BJP has decided to name 8,100 class rooms that are constructed throughout schools and colleges in Karnataka after Swami Vivekananda. In addition, the government is mulling to paint these classrooms with the colour which was the idea of Swami Vivekananda. There is a high possibility that one more controversy will be created due to this decision. The work has already begun at a cost of Rs 992 crore.

The opposition parties may raise objections to this decision of the government led by BJP and accuse it of saffronisation of government property. During textbooks revision too, the ruling party was accused of including right wing ideology. Inclusion of speech of RSS founder K B Hegadewar and omitting Bhagat Singh lesson was the bone of contention. Now the classroom naming and colour might create one more controversy.

The education department is mulling to keep the name of Swami Vivekananda for value and role model. The education department says that this colour is used in order to attract children and no politics is involved in it. It has also requested opposition parties not to create controversy over colour and allow children to study and help in development of quality education.

Spending money for all these things instead of solving greater problems like inflation, unemployment, literacy rate. But wait, they should first be educated to know these terms. Swami Vivekananda himself would have felt so disgusted to see the current political situation in India if he was alive.

Don't misuse the name of Swami Vivekananda. Paint your mind and heart with his teaching and not painting walls with 'viveka' colour.

BJP’s statement in its defence is like cat drinking milk with eyes closed. Swamy Vivekananda was never for communal politics and for him there was no religion based governance but all were equal including the poor, untouchables and less fortunate. There is no representation of Vivekananda and his values and preaching here but communal saffronisation and division which completely opposite to Vivekanada’s teachings.
