Bengaluru, Nov 14: In sharp contrast to most of BJP leadets attacking India’s first Ptime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai showered lavish praises and said the credit of taking India to international level goes to Pandit Nehru.

Speaking after garlanding the statue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary in Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Monday, he said Nehru loved children and his birth anniversary is celebrated as the Children's Day.

“Pandit Nehru had worked very closely with the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. He supported Gandhiji during the country's freedom struggle to the hilt and strove hard for the country to bloom,’’ he said.

Bommai said: “As the first Prime Minister of the independent country, Nehru laid the foundation for development. He worked commendably at the international level for the Non-Alignment Movement with General Tito. India still is still playing a major role in NAM.’’

He said it is befitting that Nehru’s birthday is celebrated as Children's Day.

Minister Halappa Achar and Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma and others were present.

Saffron colour for school buildings: No politics please

The Chief Minister said politicising everything is low level and attacked the Congress leaders for their criticism for painting the school buildings with the saffron colour.

“There is saffron colour in our National Flag. Why are they angry on the saffron colour? The school buildings are constructed in the name of Swami Vivekananda. Vivekananda was a monk..he wore the saffron robes. The word Viveka means knowledge for one and all. Let them learn,’’ Bommai said.

This is a mere lip service to hide the conceit from themselves. Deep down their conscience they must be loathing in vengeance and finding it difficult to realise their objectives of a Congress free India. Just "wishful thinking". Their plans will never succeed no matter how much they want.

Proof of how desperate BJP is to win votes. First it was Gandhiji, then Sardar Patel followed by Kempegouda and even Tippu Sultann in Mysore recently.

We should really appreciate Nehru for some of the very important decisions for which he gained vision in the UK. Building institutions, going to polls, educational institutions, belief in Courts. If he indeed did not do that, what would have happened? Do not see far, next door neighbor is a good example who still rue that India got Nehru and they did not. Kangaroo courts, politicians groomed in military kindergartens, all the ruling elite have dual passports, and no educational institutions of substance but plenty of madrassas. Except for few parts of Punjab and Sindh, the business of rest of the country directly at the hands of core commanders who loot day in and day out the resources for their personal benefit to settle happily ever after abroad.
