Udupi: Girl dies, fiance injured in motorcycle-tipper collision

Udupi, Nov 17: In a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday November 16 at Ucchila NH 66 auto rickshaw stand, a young girl, who was going on a motorcycle with her fiancé, died as the back wheel of a tipper truck hit the two-wheeler.

Ayesha Nihala (18), resident of Kanchinadka, is the unfortunate victim of this accident. Her fiancé Mohammed Sharif, resident of Belapur got injured and is admitted to Ajjarakad hospital in Udupi. It is learnt that both Ayesha and Mohammed were engaged and their marriage was to take place in January 2023.

Mohammed is employed in a gulf country and came to native place on Tuesday. Ayesha and Mohammed had gone to Udupi to buy a dress and were returning to Padubidri.

The accident occurred due to the negligence of tipper truck driver. Deceased Nihala’s father is a mason. The marriage of both his daughters was about to take place. Now the family members are distraught by the death of younger daughter Nihala. She is survived by father, mother, elder sister and two brothers.

Police said that tipper driver Mohammed Ziyad did not have a heavy duty driving licence. Padubidri police have registered a case and taken the driver into custody.

    Nawaz kuwait,you are going from A to z going around but land in Aback.They went to buy some dress on bike.Let us concentrate not on their relationship but on accident.Nowadays we hear more of trucks and bikes.Trucks should be controlled more than any other vehicles.Bikers are mostly involved in accidents ,probably their speed .Let us pray for the soul of this soul of this girl .Heartfelt sympathy to the family.

    They were so sure of the Tomorrow that they travelled in a bike like married couple. Don't ever take tomorrow for granted. To HIM we belong; and Verily to HIM is our return.

    @Arun, I don't know about you. But, as far as I am concerned, I am not a kind of person who is over confident about his good character. Let me explain you in another way: The drunk and drive accidents happen when the driver has the overconfidence in himself that he would have full control over himself even after he is being drunk. Note that The driver never had the intention of making accident. Hope you got my point.

    @Manohar, The mentality/mindset varies from person to person you know. Western cultures wont even mind opposite sex people kissing each other as a way of greeting. They would make fun / blame the mentality of others who wont do that. But, any normal Indian would not feel comfortable to that.
