Mangaluru: Srinivas University inaugurates Students Associations

Mangaluru, Nov 19: Civil Engineering Students Association (SRISTICA) and Cyber Security & Cyber Forensics Engineering Association (SATARC) were inaugurated at Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mukka, Mangaluru. Chief guest Ajay P Shetty (managing director, Ujwal Group of Companies, Manipal-Udupi) and chief guest Gopalakrishna Bhat (founder & managing director, Kakunje Software Pvt Ltd) inaugurated the Students Associations by lighting the lamp.

Dr Thomas Pinto (Dean of the College) presided over the programme.

Dr Netravathi P S (HOD, associate dean of the College), Dr Ramakrishna Hegde (HOD, dept of Civil Engineering), Dr Krishna Prasad (HOD, Dept of Cyber Security & Cyber Forensics Engineering), Prof Shrinath Rao K (coordinator, SRISTICA), Prof Dyanila Neeta Ferrao (coordinator, SATARC), A G Gagan (president, SRISTICA) and Rakshith Pranav (president, SATARC) were present.

In his inaugural address, chief guest, Ajay Shetty has given an overall view of infrastructural development activities in India and the role of Civil Engineers in the Nation Building and Economic Development. He spoke on the importance of Civil Engineering in the overall development of Transportation, Highways, Railways, Urban Development, Smart Cities, Agriculture, Industrial Development, Renewable and Non Renewable Energy sectors. He also said that by 2030, India will become the Third Fastest Growing Economy and hence Civil Engineering professionals will get more opportunities in the coming years to serve the nation.

Chief guest, Gopalakrishna Bhat recalled his student life. He spoke on the application of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and IoT in the field of Construction, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Services and Infrastructural development. He said that in order to achieve better results in the above sectors, Data Security and Data Privacy is very important. Hence, Cyber Security & Cyber Forensics Engineering professionals have more responsibility and better opportunity to serve the society and nation.

Associate dean of the College, Dr P S Netravathi spoke on the multidisciplinary and interconnected applications of Civil Engineering and Cyber Security Engineering. Dr Netravathi stressed on inculcating Entrepreneurship qualities and hence to promote more number of Start-Ups.

In his presidential Remarks, Dean of the College Dr Thomas Pinto applauded both the chief guests who have achieved many milestones in their young age. Dr Pinto also said that students should enrich their knowledge and skills and to achieve success with hard work and dedication.

Dr Ramakrishna Hegde delivered welcome address and given an overview of activities organized by the Civil Engineering and Cyber Security Engineering students association in the previous years.

Prof Shrinath Rao K introduced chief guest Ajay P Shetty.

Rakshith Pranav introduced chief guest Gopalakrishna Bhat.

A G Gagan and Rakshith Pranav administered Oath to the newly elected office bearers of SRISTICA and SATARC 2022-23.

On this occasion, first, second and third year BTech Civil Engineering and BTech Cyber Security Engineering students were awarded with Certificates for their Academic Excellence. Prof Dyanila Neeta Ferrao read the names of achievers in academics.

Kumari Vaidehi and Kumari Madhuri performed invocation.

Dr Krishna Prasad delivered vote of thanks.

Kumari Aishwarya Bettin and Kumari Vaishnavi Shenoy steered the programme as master of ceremony.
