Mangaluru: St Lawrence English Medium School celebrates annual sports day

Mangaluru, Nov 21: November 18, was a joyful day to Lawrencians on the celebration of the annual sports meet.

The chief guest of the inaugural programme Aren Joy Fernandes the gold medalist in Asian powerlifting received the guard of honour and the mayor of the city Jayanand Anchan being the guest of honour felicitated the district level track event winner Mohammad Shami and wished him for the state level competition.

The sports minister Sumukh along with Mohammed shamy who has been selected for state level track event, Akash who lead the volleyball and throw ball team at district level, Spandana and Sawmya who represented the school at zonal level were torch relay heralds.

The president of the programme Fr Andrew Leo D'Souza felicitated the school volleyball and throw ball team for being selected for district. He expressed his joy on the excellent performance of the students in various sports and games events held in zonal taluk and district. Fr Lancy, assistant parish priest, Reginald D'Souza, vice president of Bondel pastoral council and management committee member and Suresh Shetty, vice president of PTA and Helen Pinto, HM of St Lawrence aided primary school were present in the programme.

At the valedictory programme, Fr Peter Gonsalves, principal of school welcomed the guests and gathered. National level athletic and track event winner Maria Lavina Rodrigues being the chief guest lowered the school flag and set a grand end.

The corporator of Pachanady ward Sangeetha Nayak felicitated the individual champions Divina and Shamy, both from class 7, Preran and Sawmya Dodamani both from class 10, and the group champions and being the guest of honour cheered the enthusiastic students with her note.
