Mangaluru: St Aloysius College conducts investor awareness programme

Mangaluru, Nov 22: An Investor Awareness Programme was organized for the final year B Com students by the faculty of Commerce in collaboration with the Mangalore University Commerce Teachers Association (MUCTA) on November 21 in the Fr L F Rasquinha Hall (LCRI Block).

The programme was sponsored by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The Franklin Templeton Mutual Funds assisted in obtaining the sponsor from SEBI. C A Rudolph M C Rodrigues, partner, M/S Rodrigues and D’Souza was the chief guest at the inaugural. In his message to the participants, he deliberated on the importance of Investor Education, especially systematic investment planning and securing one’s passive income for future.

Professor Manoj Louis, secretary, MUCTA in his prelude to the Programme gave insight on how the savings and investments lead to the nation’s capital formation and wealth creation.

Dr Denis Fernandes, director of Arrupe Block shared his views on personal investment planning.

Presiding over the inaugural session the principal, Dr Praveen Martis S J appreciated the efforts of the organizers for arranging the programme for the benefit of the students. He urged the students to engage seriously in the sessions to gain useful tips on financial investment planning.

There were three sessions during the course of the day – the first on Financial Literacy by Naveen Rego, SEBI CFP, the next on Time Value of Money by Leo Amal A, senior branch manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management India Pvt Ltd, and the third on Personal Investment Planning by Sapna Shenoy M, Investment Services Professional, Mangaluru.

Dr Manuel Tauro, dean, Faculty of Commerce welcomed the gathering. Avinash Kumar, convener of the programme expressed the words of thanks. Viola Lewis compered the inaugural programme. About 300 students participated in the programme.
