Udupi, Nov 25: The Hiriyadka police took into custody a woman and recovered the stolen ornaments from the accused woman and produced her before a court.

The woman is identified as Rekha Hebballi Bagalkote. She was appointed as a home nurse by Vasanth Shetty to look after his aged mother Saraswathi (98) through Udupi Usha Marriage Bureau and Job Links Agency. Rekha Hebballi looked after Saraswathi for a few days and on November 21, when no one was at home she stole gold ornaments worth Rs 1.45 lac that Saraswathi had worn and fled the house.

Suspecting Rekha's involvement in the theft, Saraswathi's son Vasanth Shetty filed a complaint with Hiriyadka police on November 24 and a case was registered.

employing home nurses who are supplied by agencies is a huge risk to take care of elder people. in this case lucky that the woman did not kill. never ever trust the job and marriage bureau agencies. they are just out there to make money and send anyone who is willing to work. or rather loot

Rekha must have thought what was the point of a woman nearing death wearing gold ornaments of such value; that she, the nurse, will have much longer use for them. Vasantha tempted her.
