Bommai pays homage to Kengal Hanumanthaiah

Bengaluru, Dec 1: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday paid homage to former Chief Minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah by garlanding his statue in front of Vidhana Soudha.

Speaking to media persons after garlanding Kengal’s statue, the Chief Minister said the former Chief Minister, who had built the imposing Vidhana Soudha building, had chalked out the blueprint for the development of the State.

Bommai said Kengal Hanumanthaiah was a prominent freedom fighter and after Independence played a key role in the unification of the State.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar, MP Muniswamy and members of Kengal’s family were present.

A delegation from the Republic of Chezhoslavakia led by its Ambassador to India Dr Eliska called on the Chief Minister at his office and held cordial discussions with him.

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairman N Jayaram and other senior officials presented a cheque for Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
