Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds certificate course on cosmetic chemistry

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The department of Chemistry, Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a thirty-hour certificate course on Cosmetic Chemistry from November 9 onwards.

Dr Akshaya K B, an entrepreneur with an independent organic cosmetic company Kimsuka was the resource person. The practical session for the cosmetic chemistry course was held on December 1, 2 and 3. During the practical session, preparation of soap, body oil, lip balm, lip scrub, body oil, face soap, body butter was done. Students participated in the session enthusiastically.

The valedictory programme was held on December 3. Dr Akshaya K B, the guest of honour, who was also the resource person, shared how she started her brand and congratulated all students for successfully completing the certification course.

Principal Sr Venissa A C expressed her satisfaction saying that learning should become fun as in the certificate course. Dr Chitharanjan Hegde, professor, department of chemistry, NITK, Surathkal, who was the chief guest of the day, encouraged students to go beyond the usual curriculum and upgrade themselves.

Feedback on this certificate course was given by Helen Serrao, associate professor, department of chemistry, St Agnes College and Vaibha, a participant and Stoney from first year MSc Chemistry. Finally the programme ended with the vote of thanks given by Dr Geetha Pinto.
