Mysuru, Dec 13: Chamarajanagar district is one among 31 important districts and blessed with natural bounty and a border district and the State Government will accord importance for the development of this district, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons, he said this is his third visit to the border district after becoming the chief minister.
He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has convened a meeting of two chief ministers in Delhi to discuss the border dispute.
“We will clearly state our stand on the issue. Already, we have furnished details to Amit Shah regarding State Reorganisation Act, pending case in the Supreme Court and others," he said.
Bommai said the State Home Secretary has explained that the Apex Court has not taken up any such case since 2004 and provisions in the Constitution.
Survey of crop damage
He said the cyclone has done certain damage and the survey is being done on its impact on the crops.
According to reports, the millet crop is ready for harvesting but intermittent rain is coming in the way of harvesting.
A complete report is being sought from the Department of Agriculture, he said.
Cabinet expansion
Replying to a question, the chief minister said he will be going to Delhi in connection with a meeting with the union home minister on the border row.
But he will go prepared in case the issue of cabinet expansion is discussed, he said.
'We will drive back China'
On the skirmishes between India and China army on Line of Actual Control, Bommai said the Centre is not like previous governments and the Defence forces are ready. There was no such preparedness in the past and previous leaders had not given any directions to defence forces.
But now there are clear instructions. Roads, bridges and other equipment are provided to the Indian Army. "We will drive back China effectively,’’ he added.
