Kundapur, Dec 15: The ABVP unit of the taluk held huge protest on Thursday December 15 urging the educational issues faced by the students of Mangalore University to be resolved immediately.

The protesters said, “The results are not declared on time. Though it is almost one year after the examinations are over, evaluation of answer papers is not done. As the students have not received marks cards, they are unable to join post-graduate courses.

“The students are unable to apply for scholarships as the marks cards are not sent to them. Though students spend thousands of rupees to go from far off place like Byndoor to Mangaluru to collect the marks cards, the same is not given to them on the same day. At least two to three visits are required.

“The students who go to collect the marks cards do not get any positive response from the university personnel. Evaluation of answer papers of examination is not done on time. The students are facing lots of hardship. When they write supplementary exams, the results are inordinately delayed.

“The students who do not clear the subject, pay fine and apply for re-evaluation. If they get passed in the re-evaluation of answer papers, they do not get the fine money returned to them even after a year. The marks card has lots of errors in it. All these issues should be resolved immediately,” they said.

ABVP members of Dr B B Hegde first grade college Kundapur, Bhandarkar’s college students, and Kalavara Varadaraja M Shetty government degree college Kageri took part in the protest.

ABVP taluk convener Dhanush Poojary, taluk sampark pramukh Rahul Shetty, president of B B Hegde college unit Vishlesh Shetty, president of Bhandarkars college unit Veekshit and president of Kageri college unit Chethan were present.
