Mangaluru, Dec 15: “The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has taken several measures to prevent infectious diseases. Malaria and dengue is under control comparatively to the previous year. Now the MCC is all set to prevent the spread of infectious diseases,” said MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar.
He was speaking during the ‘Meet the Press’ programme at press club here on Thursday December 15.
He further said, “Initial works have started regarding bio-mining related to solid waste stocked at Mandara in Pachanady. Kadri Park, Tagore Park and other parks in the city are being developed. The works of UGD is being developed in different phases. Under the Smart City Project, 8 wards are being developed. Importance is given to develop fisheries port in Bunder.
“The MCC have simplified several services for the advantages of public. Already, the MCC has become paperless. Several services are being done through online.
“The rent collection of the shops coming under corporation limits will done online. Special importance has been given for the development of lakes. The work regarding Kavoor lake, footpaths and street vendors are in the notice of the corporation. The MCC will very soon identify a place for the street vendors. Several roads have been developed in the city. Road works worth Rs 61 crore are in progress while works worth Rs 54 crore is yet to start. Several junctions and circles in the city have been developed at cost of Rs 30 crore,” he said.
