Mangaluru, Dec 15: Former legislator and Congress leader Mohiuddin Bawa alleged that government sites were being allotted illegally in the labourers colony by the local corporator's husband.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, December 15, he alleged that there were two acres of land in the land survey under the Mangaluru City Corporation limits. The locals used this land for sports. But, from the past few days laterite stones and sand is being stored in the land. Recently, preparation is underway to lay the foundation stone, he alleged.

When the locals staged a symbolic protest against this, the land encroachers  abused the locals, he said.

"Surathkal Block Congress Committee severely condemns such acts. We demand that this land should be used for public purposes. BJP is supporting such irregularities and anti-people policies and the Congress condemn this," Mohiuddin Bawa said.

He urged officials to take appropriate action against such encroachments.
