Udupi: 21st annual day of Christ School Manipal celebrated

Udupi, Dec 16: The 21st annual day of Christ school, Manipal was celebrated on Thursday, December 15 in the school premises.

K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA Udupi was the chief guest for the programme. The dignitaries were welcomed by the school band vibrantly.

Addressing the gathering Raghupathi Bhat said, "I am thankful for the felicitation done by the school management. Fr Romeo Lewis is very close to me since the time he was the parish priest at Perampalli. He has turned Perampalli church into a tourist place. I assure my presence with you in any needs of the school and church. People representatives do not have any religion, we represent people of all castes and religions. I assure my help for the school and church, this school has been running for the last 21 years. Udupi is very developed in terms of education mainly in quality of education. Institutions like Christ School have contributed to this. Private educational institutions in UdupI and Mangaluru have developed on their own terms without waiting for the aid from the government. Late Dr VS Achrya always used to note the contribution of Christians in the field of education and health. Co-curricular activities are very much important along with curricular. We will begin yakshagana training for the students in Christ School also from next year.”

Students achievers were felicitated on the occasion. Cultural extravaganza presented by students enthralled the audience.

Fr Romeo Lewis, correspondent welcomed the gathering. Sathwik, student leader, proposed a vote of thanks. Angel Samantha, Aanya and Sreenivas compered the programme.

Eliza Vaz, principal Regina Fernandes, secretary parish pastoral committee and members were present on the occasion.
