Mangaluru: KSHDC chief Roopa bats for women entrepreneurship to boost productivity

Mangaluru, Dec 16: Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (KSHDC) Managing Director Roopa D Moudgil said that women entrepreneurship is a great step. It is not an easy task to be a woman entrepreneur. Even in this modern world, there are people questioning women entrepreneurship.
 
She was speaking during Mangaluru Technovanza (Women@Work Talk) programme at Dr TMA Pai International Convention Centre here on Friday, December 16. 
 
She also added that a survey had shown teams comprising women have given higher productivity. If corporates want higher profits, they should better think of hiring more women for their businesses. The company's growth will help in furthering nation's growth. 
 










 
She also added that entrepreneurship should help women gain knowledge of marketing, finance, and various other things.
 
"Fighting social stereotypes is important. Continue to chase your dream. It is your dream. Have visions and goals. Try to reach them," she said.
 
Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) CEO Sanjeev Kumar Gupta informed that Mangaluru city is a fintech hub and the Fintech Task Force will submit a road map for the growth of the sector here to the government.
 
He was speaking to media persons during an interaction at Mangaluru Technovanza.
 
The KDEM targets Karnataka’s digital economy to reach $300 billion by 2025. It aims to create a talent pool to fulfill the requirements of at least 5000 new start-ups across Karnataka. “We want to reach the goal of $10 billion worth of exports from these clusters in Mangaluru, Mysuru, and Hubballi.”
 
Shylaja Rao, General Partner of Ventana Ventures said there is a need to increase women employability in various sectors.
