Mangaluru, Dec 18: The annual day celebrations of Vidya Jyothi Higher Primary School, Kunjathabail was held on December 16 at Vidya Jyothi school ground.
Stany Bela, known Konkani cine-serial director and production head of Daijiworld TV, presided over the programme.
Seema Suvares, inspector of excise, Mangaluru, Raghuraj Kadri, principal, Shree Gokarnanatheshwara college, Gandhinagar, Mangaluru, Sharath Kumar, corporator, Kunjathabail ward, Yathiraj Shetty, honorary vice president, alumni association and Shivaraj vice president, alumni association were the chief guests for the programme.
Sr Maria Gretta A C, secretary, Vidya Jyothi school, Sr Vijaya Crasta A C, Vidya Jyothi High School, Sr Navita A C, headmistress and Vidya Jyothi Primary School were present.
Addressing the students and parents, Seema Suvares said, "I am happy to attend a school day of Kannada medium. The Kannada medium students have proven that they are the toppers in either academic excellence or grabbing the jobs in government sectors. So parents should encourage their children to study in Kannada medium for their better future."
In his presidential address, Stany Bela said, "The academic education should not restrict students only to writing the notes, reading textbooks, preparing for the examinations and getting 90 plus marks. Education should cover everything including finding a talent in a student and nourishing it with proper guidance. The stages of school days, sports days and other extracurricular activities help students to showcase their talents. I congratulate all the students and the administration of school for their wonderful school day."
Sr Maria Gretta A C, welcomed the dignitaries and those gathered. Sr Vijaya Crasta A C introduced the guests. The toppers of school, winners of sub district, district and state level competitions were felicitated with cash awards and mementos.
Students from class 1 to 10 staged various performances.
