Kundapur, Dec 19: “We are the representatives of the elected representatives. Therefore we know the hardships of panchayat members to run their lives. 50% of the panchayat members in the state are women. The elected representatives who were elected due to reservations are facing difficulties for a living. We had requested to pay them an honorarium of Rs 10,000 per month,” said Manjunath Bhandary, member of Vidhana Parishat speaking in Kundapur.
“The government has raised the payment to avoid embarrassment but it is too low. They should have been paid at least Rs 5,000 per month. Our campaign will not stop. We will speak about it in the Vidhana Mandal session under 3/30,” he said.
