Belagavi, Dec 20: KPCC chief D K Shivakumar has announced a series of yatras by the Congress party under his leadership on various irrigation issues starting with the first one from Vijayapura on December 30 on the Krishna river water sharing issue and the Mahadayi water sharing issue from Hubballi on January 2.
Speaking to media persons after a meeting with party leaders in Belagavi, he said the Congress party is organising a massive rally of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at Chitradurga on January 8.
Shivakumar said the State Congress leaders will launch their bus yatra from Belagavi, as Mahatma Gandhi had convened the AICC session as Congress President from Belagavi.
He said he will arriving at Belagavi on January 10 and commence the series of meetings from Chikkodi on January 11.
The bus yatra will take a four-day break and travel to Hospete on January 16.
The bus yatra will cover Hosapete and Koppal on January 17, move to Bagagalakote and Gadag on January 18 and travel to Haveri and Davangere on January 19 with a day’s break on January 20.
Shivakumar said the next journey of the bus yatra will be in Hassan and Chikkamanagaluru on January 21, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada on January 22, Kolar and Chikkaballapura on January 23 and Tumakuru and Bengaluru rural on January 24 followed by a day’s break on January 25.
On January 26 the bus yatra will cover Mysuru and Chamarajanagar and Mandya and Ramanagara on January 27 and Yadagir and Bidar on January 28.
The bus yatra schedule in Uttara Kannada, Raichuru, Kodagu and Ballari will be finalized and announced later, Shivakumar said announcing that the party will be travelling by bus yatra for the whole month of January.
The KPCC chief said he and Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah will cover the entire State in two batches and visit all the 224 assembly constituencies.
