Bengaluru, Dec 25: Christmas Day, which is also the birthday of former BJP Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and is observed as Sushashan (Good Governance) Day, served as an occasion for distribution of job appointment letters to 10,000 youth with attractive monthly pay packages ranging from Rs 18,000 to 45,000 in the Malleswaram Assembly Constituency represented by Higher Education and IT/BT, Skills Development Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who was the chief guest, symbolically issued job appointment letters to 8 persons, and lauded Dr Narayan for his initiative in helping with job recruitment for the youth, which is a model for the entire country.
Among those who got the job letters included persons who had completed Engineering, B.Sc., B.Com,, Nursing, Diploma and Polytechnic courses. As many as 3,000 youth, who have been selected for appointment, attended the function at held at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium.
Bommai, in his speech, said Karnataka is the only State to have its own employment policy and also have Research and Development policies. The State Government is also offering various incentives and schemes to help the youth and women entrepreneurs, he said.
The chief minister said Karnataka will be getting investment to the tune of Rs 8 lakh crore, which will give a fillip for the State’s development and industrial growth besides providing jobs to the educated youth.
Higher Education Minister Dr Ashwath Narayan explained the various policy initiatives of the State Government and upgrading of educational institutions.
A midnight walkthon was organised to mark Vajpayees birthday on Saturday night in which thousands of people and enthusiastic youth participated. The Walkathon started off at 11pm from the Malleswaram ground and passed through UPSC Guttahalli, Skywalk Guttahalli, Sankey tank, Government College 18th cross before culminating at Chandrashekhar Azad ground.
BBMP schools and local organisations participated in singing of Patriotic songs, folk songs, film songs and performed dances. Winners of the competitions were presented with Finisher medals and certificates. Mini dinner was also arranged.
