Puttur: St Philomena PU college celebrates annual day

Puttur, Dec 26: The annual day of St Philomena PU college here was celebrated on Friday, December 23.

The president, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, correspondent, Mai De Deus Educational Institutions, Puttur said, "College life is golden life. Every one gets several opportunities to prove themselves. So it's the duty of the students to identify it and work on it in the first attempt itself."

He motivated the students to study hard so that they will know the difference between good and bad.

 

The chief guest, Madhu S Manohar, muncipal commissioner, City Muncipal Council, Puttur said that students can lead a meaningful life if they learn how to deal with the problems. He suggested that every one should enjoy their life as every problem has a solution.

The guest of honour, Fr Stany Pinto, campus director, St Philomena College Campus, Puttur addressed the students and encouraged the students to make the best use of their time at St Philomena PU college and grow up to be a proud Philomenite.

The guest of honour, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal, St Philomena College, Puttur appreciated and congratulated students for their incredible success.

The guest of honour, Maurice Mascarenhas, vice president, parish pastoral council, Mai De Deus Church, Puttur expressed his happiness and motivated students to conduct programmes related to the development of the society. He advised students to be loyal and truthful in this corrupt world.

A Jagajeevan Das Rai said, "St Philomena PU College is an institution which plays a dominant role in building the future of the students." He encouraged students to imbibe good qualities and shape their future.

Mamachan M, president, parent teacher association said, “Education is not a standstill process. It has to change as time progresses. St Philomena PU College is one such institution that gives great knowledge to the students.”

The college annual report was the highlight of the event wherein all the events and the activities of the past year along with the academic achievements of the staff and the students were reported by the principal, Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta.

Meanwhile, dignitaries felicitated national level players and also honoured meritorious students and the best outgoing students.

The formal function was followed by the cultural event which was compered by the students.

 

 

Shrinivas Hegde M, president of student council, welcomed the gathering. Rashmi M D, joint secretary, student council proposed a vote of thanks. Prashanth Bhat, dept of Chemistry, compered the programme.
