Hubballi, Dec 27: Higher Education, IT/BT and Skills Development Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan inaugurated the multi-skill training centre being established at a cost of Rs 20 crore under the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) in the Hubballi industrial area on Tuesday.
The inauguration took place in presence of former Chief Minister and MLA Jagadish Shettar and GTTC MD Raghavendra.
On the occasion, a toll free helpline established by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelyhood was also launched.
The Helpline with the number 155 267 would handle all queries related to the above department acrostic state. This includes guidance with regard to entrepreneurship also.peaking on the occasion, Dr Narayan said multi skill training centre set up at a cost of Rs. 20 crore has more than 60 short term and long term courses. This would facilitate youth of the region to become employable.
The State Government has been focusing on promoting the growth of semiconductor sector and chip manufacturing. The state would become a front runner in the said domains in next few years, he opined.
In higher education, students from non-technical streams are also being provided training in technical skills as per the aspirations of NEP 2020, the minister said.
To realise the Atma Nirbhar Bharat call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, quality education and skilled manpower in emerging Technology are very much necessary, he remarked.
