Mangaluru: Carmel School Kotekar celebrates 15th Annual Day

Mangaluru, Dec 29: A great day for the academic year was organized with much pomp on December 20. The School Day presented the students with an opportunity to display their vivid talents. The chief guest Dr Rohith Sanctus, the president and director of Paschim Charitable Trust, President Sr Maria Smitha AC, principal Sr Jenifer Moras AC, Sujatha Shetty, PTA vice president, along with guests of honour Shashidhar Poyyathabail, director, Abbkka TVUllala and Yogish Shetty Jeppu, founder president Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike were the dignitaries of the day.

The programme began with the school band welcoming and escorting the dignitaries to the dais followed by the prayer song. Sr Jenifer Moras AC the principal welcomed the gathering. The school felicitated Dr Rohit Sanctus for receiving honorary doctorate from Asia Vedic Cultural Research University, Chennai, Shashidhar Poyyathabail and Yogish Shetty Jeppu for being recipients of ‘Jilla Rajyostava Prastati’. The meritorious students who had excelled in their academic were also felicitated together with the SSLC toppers of the last 3 years. The teachers who won the quiz competition conducted at school level were also felicitated by the chief guests.

Dr Rohit Sanctus in his message urged the parents to help the students to utilize every opportunity that the school provides. Shashidhar Poyyathabail emphasized the importance of education in the present scenario. Yogish Shetty, Jeppu advised the parents to respect both the teachers as well as their children.

The cultural programme began with a Dance Drama on the use of Social Media and on Child Labour. A plethora of performances by the students were a feast to the eyes of the audience who enjoyed every bit of it. They were enthralled by the performance of grade X boys dance and the IX on Unity in Diversity the Dance Drama. Students who were learning Karate presented self-defense techniques.

The activities of the past year along with the academic achievements of the staff and students were reported. The formal programme was compeered by Evita D Souza and Diya of Grade X and Swetha Salian proposed the vote of thanks.
