Sullia dental college student ragged for posting pro-Modi status, complaint filed

Sullia, Dec 29: An incident of ragging has been reported from K V G Dental College in Sullia against a dental college student for posting pro-Modi status on her mobile phone.

The victim Anu (name changed) who hails from Bengaluru has filed a complaint against six students hailing from Kerala with the Sullia police complaining of ragging for posting the status on her mobile.

Anu, a third dental college student has alleged that six students had assaulted her after ragging. She filed a complaint on grounds of atrocity against a Scheduled Caste under the law.

Based on Anu's complaint, the police have filed a case against six dental college students.

Accused lodge counter complaint

Meanwhile, an accused of ragging and atrocity of the girl student Anu of K V G Dental College have filed a counter case against her, her brother and two others person of ragging, threatening and assault with a jack lever.

The alleged victim is Visak G Panikar, third year student of K V G Dental college, Kunjibhag, Sullia. According to the counter FIR, he had gone out at about 10.30 pm on December 21 to drop his friend Zaidin Hajeel to Spandana P G. Afer he reached Kurunjibhag KVG, IPS school, an Innova car followed them. Anu and Harish, who is also a student of the same college, a brother of Anu and an unidentified person came to Visak, caught him by the collar, hurled expletives at him and assaulted him with a jack lever.

It is said that Anu had assaulted Daya, the college mate of Visak a few days ago. Daya had said that Visak will testify as a witness in front of the management in this connection. Therefore, they assaulted Visak.

A case under crime registration No. 155/2022 Section 324, 504 R/W 34 IPC is registered in Sullia police station against Dr Pallavi, Dr Hanif, the elder brother of Pallavi and an unidentified person in this connection.
