B'lore: HC Directs to CID Probe Bellary Medical College PGET Issue

Bangalore, May 26 (PTI) Karnataka High Court today directed the CID to re-investigate allegations of malpractice by nine students who had attended the Medical Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) at Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellary in January this year.

Hearing a batch of writ petitions filed by the students whose results had been annulled following allegations of malpractice, Justice B S Patil directed CID to re-investigate the matter already probed by police and the Lokyukta.

The court directed the investigating agency to file the report on or before August 25, 2011.

Meanwhile, the court stated that it was "just and necessary to direct the respondent authorities to conduct fresh counselling for the nine students (who had been debarred from participating in the counselling) and eligible candidates should take admission in accordance with law".
