Mangaluru, Dec 29: Souharda Christmas celebrations were organized by Suvares Sports Club, Mulki here in Chennayya Kudru recently.
Fr Silvester D’Costa, parish priest, Immaculate Conception of Mary Church, Karnad presided over the function. Dignitaries cut the cake and celebrated the joy of Christmas.
In his message, Fr Silvester D’Costa said, “Christmas celebrations are not restricted to Christians only. It is a celebration of Lord into this world. God so loved the world that he gave his own son. Christmas becomes meaningful when it is celebrated with community. In the journey of life let us tread this path together holding hand in hand. This souharda should continue in the upcoming days also.”
Vidhwan Krishnaraj N Bhat, astrologer, speaking on the occasion, said, “Even though, we call God with different names, there is a single existence of God. We need to live with harmony in the world created by God. Jesus Christ preached love, which is also mentioned in our shathras. We need to live with love and harmony in this world. Every religion preaches us to live in harmony with other religions. Jesus Christ solved the miseries of the people. I thank all the members of Suvares Sports Club for organizing such a programme.”
Salim Faizi Irfani, Mudaris Shafi Jumma Masjid, Mulki, addressing the gathering, said, “This world and the fruits of this earth are not just restricted to humans alone. This belongs to the God. We should never act in a way which will hinder the harmony of the society. Jesus Christ preached to live in harmony and love. We need to follow the preachings of Jesus Christ. He sacrificed himself for the world.”
Shashank Acharya, Pooja U Kanchan, Nithin Mulki, Sunder, Shanthi Fernandes, Dinesh Shetty Kapu, Pradeep Ferrao, Richard Furtado, Roshan Ferrao were present.
