Mangaluru, Dec 30: Renowned Kambala jockey Srinivas Gowda, who beat world record of Usain Bolt by running faster than Bolt in the Kambala race has turned into a model by becoming the brand ambassador of a popular golden ornament selling group.
Srinivas Gowda and buffalo Appu as model in their advertisement. The curious part is that even Srinivas Gowda was not aware that he is model till the hoarding was released recently. He thought that it was just another photo shoot.
Around two years ago, the video in which Srinivas ran the race of his life in Kambala beating the world record of Usain Bolt, went viral and created sensation throughout the country. Now the Kambala Jockey Srinivas has turned into a poster boy.
An elated Srinivas said, “I am extremely delighted. I never thought that the advertisement will become so popular. The photoshoot had taken place six months ago. They had asked me to pose with buffalo Appu. I think this is the first time a Kambala jockey is give such an opportunity. I am happy that the popular gold ornaments brand has decided to popularize its products along with Kambala sport.”
Owner of buffalo Appu Mizar Prasad Nilaya Shakti Prasad Shetty said, “Srinivas Gowda has won four gold medals out of the five Kambalas that were held this season. He is busy in shooting of Veera Kambala movie. I am delighted that buffalo Appu also has become star along with Srinivas Gowda.”
Capatain Brijesh Chowta, organizer of Rama Laxmana Jodukare Kamaba said that this development reflects the love people of coastal region have on the Kambala sport. He said that more support of this nature by other companies will be huge inspiration for Kambala sport and the jockeys who run the buffaloes.
