Mandya, Dec 30: The Ethanol production unit will be established at Mysugar factory in Mandya next year and it will be converted in such a way that it must benefit farmers, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday.

Speaking at the inauguration of Mega Dairy at Gejjalagere organised by Mandya District Milk Producers Union, he said there has been a white revolution through milk production and dairy development in the State.

Karnataka has made a significant contribution to the milk revolution. Farmers are working day and night and women are playing an important role in milk production.

Bommai said dairying will play a vital role in comprehensive farming because of which a lot of attention has been given. During the B S Yediyurappa government, the practice of giving an incentive to farmers was started and now Rs 5 per liter is paid to farmers.

Despite several challenges in the sector still, it is surging ahead. The Gejjalagere plant can process one lakh liters of milk. A a time when the life of farmers was uncertain Prime Minister Narendra Modi separated the Ministry of Cooperation from the Ministry of Agriculture to bring certainty to their lives. Now the Ministry of Cooperation has gained strength and is all set for a revolution. Efforts are made to bring a lot of reforms in this field.

He said former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda started the first mega-dairy in Bengaluru and it cannot be forgotten. It started in Bengaluru and now it is being established everywhere. The mega-dairy independently does milk production, processing, packing, and manufacturing of other products.

The Milk Unions of Karnataka are contributing a lot to the PM's dream of 'Atma Nirbhar,’ he said.

Bommai said Mandya district is an agriculture-dependent district and is also known as a land of sugar and paddy but it still needs irrigation facilities and industries. The Mysugar factory has been started in the government sector for the benefit of farmers. Programs are being worked out for tail-end farmers of the Visvesvaraiah irrigation Canal and they will be approved within a week.

The chief minister said the state government has issued an order to provide additional subsidy of Rs 100 per tonne for sugar factories producing molasses.

CM attacks Cong, JD(S) misrule of 30 years

In sharp contrast to the lavish praises to JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the official function at Gejjalakere, Bommai attacked both the Congress and JD(S) at a party function later for their misrule during the last 30 years, despite BJP coming to power with the help of JD(S) and even the present BJP government being formed with after the toppling of H D Kumaraswamy-led JD(S) and Congress coalition government with the help of 16 defectors from the two parties.

The chief minister said the people have been fed up with the misrule of Congress and JD(S) during the last 30 years and the failure of the two parties, which gained power and became ministers and chief ministers, notwithstanding S M Krishna, who hails from Mandya district, and had quit Congress and is presently in BJP.

He said the leaders of the two parties have not taken any steps for improving the irrigation facilities in the region or for the revival of the Mysugar factory. The BJP is taking steps for the development of the entire Cauvery basin region from KRS to all other parts and the people of the region are looking at BJP for hope, he said.

Bommai claimed that a strong pro-BJP wave was sweeping the State and the ruling party will return to power with a thumping majority in the 2023 assembly polls.

“The BJP is providing a double engine government in the State and at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership,’’ he said lavishly praising the various pro-people welfare measures of the Modi regime. ``While Modi has provided the most stable and strong government, Amit Shah has ensured that the country has internal security,’’ he added.
