Udupi: Fishing boats collide, Rs 40 lac loss estimated

Udupi, Dec 31: Two boats collided with each other at 3 am on December 23 near Malpe fishing port.

The Swarnadeepa boat owned by Gurudas Salian is damaged. The boat was going deep sea fishing during the wee hours. Another steelboat hit Swarnadeepa boat near the fishing port itself. The boat got damaged and water started seeping in.

As it was dark, the fishermen on board could not identify the boat that collided and escaped in sea. The damaged boat was slowly towed inside the fishing port. The loss is estimated at Rs 40 lac.
