Bommai’s advice to officials: 2023 will be challenging year, let’s face it together

Bengaluru, Jan 1: Not wishing to take a break on New Year’s day, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai convened a meeting of senior officials in Vidhana Soudha on Saturday and gave a message pointing out that Year 2023 would be a challenging from economic and administrative perspective and we have to resolve to face it effectively together.

Extending his New Year wishes to officials on Saturday, he said, “We have to prepare for the possible third wave of Covid along with pushing the economy forward. We can't just sit back imposing the restrictions. We need to face it with various strategies. We have to work with greater vigor to tackle it."

The chief minister asked the officials to cut down on wasteful expenditure in their respective departments. As for the revenue generating departments, he wanted them to raise their efficiency to improve the State's finances.

“We should face the challenge with a positive attitude. Good thinking leads to good work. Good work paves the way for a good life. Love your work which will bring good results," Bommai said.

“Ours is the government that had least interference in the administration over the last 5 months. Work according to your conscience. Let your experience prove helpful for the poor,” Bommai said.

The chief minister claimed that his government showed least interference in the work of officials. “The officials must work with a positive bent of mind and attitude and function true to their conscience so as to help the people, especially the poor,” he said.

Chief secretary P Ravikumar, DG-IGP Praveen Sood and other senior officials participated in the meeting.

The chief minister also participated in the virtual programme convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing the 10th instalment of grants under the PM Kisan Programme.

Chief Secretary P Ravikumar, additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary N Manjunath Prasad, Cooperation Department Principal Secretary Umashankar, Agriculture Department Commissioner Brijesh Kumar Mishra and Horticulture Department Director Dr Venkatesh assisted the Chief Minister during the virtual meeting.
