Sana'a, May 28 (IANS) Five huge explosions were heard late Friday in the ceasefire area in downtown Sana'a followed by heavy gunshots, Xinhua reported.
The five huge blasts and shootings came just few hours after the opposition tribal leader Sadiq al-Ahmar, who led the five-day pitched street battles against government forces in Sana'a, said that a tribe-mediated ceasefire was reached Friday.
Casualties of the explosions are still unknown as tension soared between the government forces and the fighters of al-Ahmar, who stood by with anti-government protesters to seek to overthrow President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
At least 127 people were killed during the five-day gun battles.
Blackout hit almost all the capital just minutes after the explosions, as more huge bombings along with heavy shooting were heard clearly in Hassaba near al-Ahmar's house.
