Mangaluru: Rs 1976 crore bid for Shiradi Ghat four-lane road construction – Nitin Gadkari

Mangaluru, Jan 3: Union minister for highways and land transport Nitin Gadkari informed MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a letter that Rs 1976 crore bid is invited for construction of a four-lane road between Maranahalli and Addahole on Shiradi Ghat.

In addition, the Shiradi Ghat tunnel project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore. The minister said that DPR for the same will be finalized by April 2023 for the 23 km long tunnel and bids will be invited in the months of May.

Bid verification is in progress for repair of the road from Sakleshpur to Maranahalli at a cost of Rs 12.20 crore. Contractors will do patchwork on the existing road at present.

Earlier, on December 8, Gadkari said that it is not viable to construct a tunnel on Shiradi Ghat while answering to the question on the same by MP Nalin Kumar.
