Mangaluru, Jan 5: In a fire mishap that occurred late night on Wednesday in an apartment complex near Krishnapura of Surathkal, inmates of 25 flats had providential escape.

The fire erupted in the meter box of electricity panel and smoke filled the apartment. The inmates of the building could not breathe and they rushed out immediately. As the mishap occurred before everyone went to bed, a major tragedy was averted.

The building security guard who was at the basement, immediately alerted all the residents of the building and prevented any major health or breathing issues. The people of the building threw sand and mud on the fire and tried to prevent it from spreading.

After the incident, all the inmates of the building left to their relatives’ houses as electricity supply was cut off. Mescom and fire service personnel visited the spot and conducted inspection.
