Kundapur, Jan 6: “Parents are sending children to Byndoor school so that children may obtain quality education. Only three months are left for completion of the academic year. Transferring the headmaster and the English teachers when examinations are approaching is not right. Their transfer will adversely affect the education of children. Therefore, their transfer should be given up,” said school SDMC president Chandra Kharvi.

He was addressing the protests by the school development and supervisory committee, school alumni association, parents and students condemning the transfer of teachers of Byndoor taluk government higher primary school, Navunda.

The parents of the students said that the school only had 63 students five years ago. “But 305 students are studying in the school at present. The number of students is increased by the efforts of the alumni association, SDMC and teachers who visited houses. The transfer of headmaster Shekar Poojary and English teacher Srikanth should be withdrawn and the department of public instruction should allow them to continue in our school,” they urged.

Byndoor tahsildar Srikanth S Hegde visited the venue of the protests and received a memorandum from the protesters.

School SDMC submitted memorandums to the tahsildar, the education department, MLA and the minister.

Venkatesh Navunda, president of the school alumni association said that the school that has 305 students in it has only seven teachers. “The number of teachers is not in proportion to the students. In the circumstances transfer of two teachers is not right. Students can receive education only if teachers are present. The protests will be continued if the teachers of the school are transferred,” he said.

BJP Byndoor Mandala president Deepak Kumar Shetty, SDMC vice president Veena Naik, Navunda gram panchayat member Ganesh, Rama Kharvi, school students, parents of students, villagers, block resource centre coordinator Karunakar Shetty, B R P Manjunath Naik, Byndoor PSI Niranjan Gowda, staff and Asha activists were present.
